At the request of the head of the interregional department for execution of criminal punishments the Ministry of Justice, specialists of Sociology and Psychology Department, Faculty № 6 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs organized advanced training of penitentiary psychologists, which will take place in three stages.
There was an online lesson "Psychological characteristics of prisoners and convicts"; "Psychological portrait of prisoners and convicts." The department closely cooperates with the social and psychological service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine and conducts the following research: psychological characteristics of convicted recidivists of selfish and violent types; envy as a factor in criminogenic behavior of the individual; socio-psychological characteristics of pedophile criminals; emotional intelligence and vitality of juvenile convicts.
Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology and Psychology, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Volodymyr Filonenko acquainted the audience with the most generalized structural components of the convict portrait / prisoner portrait, including socio-demographic, criminal law and psychological and pedagogical characteristics. Explained the importance, each of these components in compiling a psychological portrait of convict or prisoner and their psychological characteristics. Olena Mokhorieva, a lecturer at the Department of Sociology and Psychology, focused on the theoretical approach to the study of the concept of personality in domestic and foreign psychology, personality components and the main personality characteristics of convict / prisoner. Concepts such as temperament, character, accentuations of character, features of emotional-volitional and value-motivational spheres were also considered.
At the end of the meeting, the course participants provided recommendations in order to make a positive educational and psychological impact on the personality of the convict / prisoner. The acquired knowledge will be useful for psychologists of penitentiary institutions of the Ministry of Justice to improve the professional level and optimize the work process in correctional facilities.
