An online event dedicated to Human Rights Day was held at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights – the first international legal document that set out fundamental human rights and freedoms on December 10, 1948. According to the UN General Assembly Resolution dated December 4, 1950, Human Rights Day is observed every year on this day.

Representatives of UN agencies in Ukraine, applicants of higher education of KhNUIA, including Sumy Branch, representatives of the scientific, and scientific and pedagogical staff of KhNUIA took part in the event.

At the beginning of the event, representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Krasimir Yankov and Serhii Shtukarin, Specialist of Sloviansk Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Iryna Pavlyk and UN Volunteer Remo Hassmann congratulated participants on Human Rights Day and told about the activities of UN agencies in Ukraine, their tasks and functions.

The conference was held on the Zoom platform. Olena Ustymenko, the Head of the Department of International Cooperation of KhNUIA, moderated the event. Applicants of higher education of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs delivered reports. Vitalii Naida, the master’s degree applicant of the Faculty No. 1 prepared the report “On the Issue of Respect for Human Rights in the Family Environment in Ukraine” (academic adviser – Professor of the Department of Constitutional and International Law of the Faculty No. 4 Andrii Voitsikhovskyi). Olena Nosova, the master’s degree applicant of the Faculty No. 1, presented the informative report to the participants of the event on the topic “Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the basis of International Human Rights Standards” (academic adviser - Professor of the Department of Constitutional and International Law of the Faculty No. 4 Andrii Voitsikhovskyi). Inna Frolova, the 2nd-year cadet of Sumy Branch of KhNUIA prepared the report on “Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine”.

The cadets – representatives of the Scientific Leadership School of the Faculty No. 1 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs took part in the discussion of topical issues.
