Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the 3-rd rank, Mykhailo Burdin, Vice-Rector of the University, and Oksana Tsukan, Adviser to the Rector on Gender Issues, participated in an online presentation of Methodological recommendations on the integration of gender approaches into the system of specialist preparation for the security and defense sector of Ukraine.
The methodological recommendations were developed at the initiative and with the support of Olha Stefanishyna. Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Kateryna Levchenko, Government Authorized Agent on Gender Policy Issues, coordinated its development. Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was selected as the basic educational institution to implement this project, and representatives of the University were involved in the group of authors.
During the presentation, Olha Stefanishyna emphasized the innovativeness of methodological recommendations, developed for higher education institutions in the security and defense sector, and noted that this is a good example for other higher education institutions.
Kateryna Pavlichenko, Deputy Interior Minister, noted that the implementation of methodological recommendations is one of the first, but extremely important steps to ensure the implementation of the gender equality principle.
Olha Siedova, the Project Coordinator of the Embassy of Sweden, accented: «When the military integrates gender equality, there will be no more sectors of gender discrimination in society».
Kateryna Levchenko, Government Authorized Agent on Gender Policy Issues, emphasized the uniqueness of the methodological recommendations – a unified approach at the strategic and operational level.
Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of the University, noted that the professional training of police officers is aimed at observation of the principles of equality, parity and interaction between applicants of higher education, which will allow the personnel of the National Police of Ukraine to compliant with the highest standards of professional accountability.
