The Roman Catholic Church and most Protestant churches celebrate Christmas on the Gregorian calendar on the Eve of December 25. This is one of the most important holidays for believers.

The holiday of Christmas was first mentioned in the IV century. From the scriptures of Matvii and Luka it follows that the rising of the first evening star on the night of December 25 marks the
birth of the Son of God. Little Christ was born in a cave where shepherds hid their cattle from the weather. The angels announced to the shepherds that the Savior had come into the cave and worshiped the newborn.
And the Magi, who followed the light of a bright star, brought their gifts to the Son of God -incense, gold and myrrh.
Almost every Catholic adheres to the tradition of strict fasting on the day before Christmas - December 24. On this day, eat only lentils - grains of barley or wheat, which are boiled in water
and add honey to taste. Fasting ends with the appearance of the first star in the sky.
Catholic Christmas is considered one of the most important Christian holidays, which fills people's hearts with warmth and mercy. In addition, it is an official public holiday and a day off in more than a hundred countries around the world.
