The study of economic and legal aspects of the emergence and spread of gender inequality, finding ways to reduce discriminatory processes and phenomena in various spheres of public relations is a topical issue today. The scheduled meeting of the scientific circle of the Department of Socio and Economic Disciplines of the Sumy Branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs "Actual problems of national economy development in the context of globalization" was also devoted to one of the aspects of this phenomenon. Olena Lukyanykhina, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, addressed the audience with an introductory speech.
The third-year student Yulia Vashchenko prepared a report on "Gender segregation and gender pay gaps" (her supervisor is Olena Lukyanykhina, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor). The third-year students and the forth-year-students who were present at the meeting learned a new economic concept - "gender segregation". The participants of the event got acquainted with its origin and forms. The student provided statistics that reflect the disparities in the remuneration of women and men, signs of gender segregation and analyzed the causes of this phenomenon.
The topic of the report turned out to be interesting because it directed the mind of those present to comprehend this phenomenon, analyze the causes and ways of overcoming it.
Gender inequality is one of the urgent problems of the modern labor market, so the students and cadets recommended Yulia Vashchenko to continue research in this direction and prepare practical recommendations to reduce the negative manifestations of this phenomenon.
