Honoring the memory of the Great Kobzar - the son of the Ukrainian people Taras Shevchenko, whose work was and remains an inexhaustible treasure of folk wisdom, Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs held a competition of readers of Shevchenko’s poetry.

First-year cadets took part in the competition. They recited Shevchenko’s poems - "Hope", "Lily of the Valley", "Evening Hour", "Thoughts - my thoughts", "And for the dead, and for the living, and for the unborn" and others. Following the results of the competition, the jury determined the winners. They were - Valentina Andreenko (excerpt from the poem "Haidamaki" - "Lebedin"), Yegor Yarmak ("I don’t care"), Bogdan Kalashnikov ("Poplars") and Siroshtan Mykola ("Ravine by ravine")

The winners of the university competition will take part in the regional selection competition of readers dedicated to the memory of Taras Shevchenko (online). Participation in such competitions gives an opportunity to learn more about Shevchenko’s literary heritage, his philosophical thoughts and understand the significance of the figure of the Great Kobzar.
