Senior Lecturer of the Department of Cybercrime of the Faculty № 4 (Cybercrime) of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police Major Oleksii Rvachov along with the Regional Center for Free Secondary Legal Aid in Luhansk and Kharkiv oblasts conducted an educational event for high school students of Kharkiv gymnasium №6.

A representative of the university held a meeting with students of the 10th grade of Kharkiv gymnasium №6 "Mariinska gymnasium". He acquainted the students with the faculty №4 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs – the only one in Ukraine among the universities of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, where future cyber police officers are trained by state order.

Using real-world examples, the lector told high school students about typical schemes that use cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to confidential information of citizens, illegally seize their money, and also use the capabilities of remote banking.

During the event, Oleksii Rvachov gave advice to students how to protect themselves from fraud, namely: do not unnecessarily post personal information on the Internet, in particular on social computer networks; pay attention to the purchase of goods in online stores or online services for the placement of advertisements for the sale of goods; not to succumb to provocative calls or messages from alleged law enforcement officers, medical institutions or the bank with offers to provide confidential information about the bank card or urgently transfer money to a relative who allegedly needs help, etc.

Such educational activities are regularly carried out by scientific and pedagogical workers and graduates of the university in various areas of human life in educational institutions of Kharkiv and other regions of Ukraine.

Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs also has a legal clinic (http://univd.edu.ua/uk/dir/2249/yurydychna-klinika), which provides an opportunity for each cadet and student under the guidance of experienced research and academic staff of the university to test themselves in law enforcement activities during the provision of free legal aid to the population on the protection of their rights and freedoms in various branches of law in accordance with current legislation of Ukraine.
