The winners of the essay contest in English on the topic "European Instruments for Human Rights Protection" for higher education students of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs have been announced. The competition was organized by the Department of International Cooperation and the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty № 4 with the support of the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine.

The aim of the competition is to encourage higher education students to conduct research on human rights protection mechanisms in Ukraine and Europe under martial law, to actively study and use the English language for professional purposes, to improve their knowledge in the field of human rights, etc. The contest participants expressed their opinions and presented their arguments, demonstrating creativity, ability to analyze and propose constructive solutions, understanding and personal attitude to the issue.

The following representatives of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine joined the evaluation stage: Senior Advisers on International Crimes Prosecution Mark Roorda and Thomas Koerner, as well as Legal Adviser Oleksandr Ishchenko. The Commission analyzed the essays submitted for the competition based on the following criteria: structure (argumentation, source), relevance, originality and style, grammar and spelling.

After a thorough discussion and evaluation of each essay, the winners were determined:

I place – Chernikova Veronika, student of group F6 of KBdsr 22-1;

II place - Kochubei Serhii, student of group F6-KBdsr 23-2;

III place - Koval Sofia Vitaliivna, cadet of group F3-103.

The winners will receive certificates and souvenirs from the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine, as well as encouragement from Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

In addition, Kateryna Tymonova, a student of the F6 group of the PZsr 20-1, was awarded by the Department of International Cooperation of KhNUIA in the nomination "Originality of the topic"; Inna Shalova, a first-year student of the Master's degree program of Sumy branch of KhNUIA, was awarded by the Department of Foreign Languages in the nomination "High level of English language use". The participation of Maksym Kyrpenko, a student of Mykolaiv Lyceum No. 9, was a surprise. For the high level of his essay, the author was recognized by the organizers in the "Opening of the Contest" nomination.
