Sumy branch of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs hosted an extended meeting of the Veritas scientific circle dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian writer, unsurpassed master of socio-psychological prose, innovator of modernist writing techniques, novelist, subtle observer of the human soul Vasyl Semenovych Stefanyk.
Members of the scientific circle Yevheniia Kovalenko, Anna Martynenko, Yuliia Herasymenko and Yuliia Nishtenko made reports at the event about the life of the writer, the peculiarities of his literary work, about active social and political activities, because Vasyl Stefanyk was a member of the Austrian Parliament for over ten years, where he actively defended the rights of peasants in his region.
Library employee Liubov Troian reviewed the writer's works stored in the library of Sumy branch, focusing on the literary digest entitled "Vasyl Stefanyk - chronicler of the people's destiny", which the library staff prepared for the writer's anniversary.
Nadiia Demydenko, the head of the Department of Humanities, noted that Vasyl Stefanyk had always wanted to "tell people something so strong and beautiful that no one had told them before." And the greatest happiness for the artist was the possibility to say what he wanted and the way he wanted it to be said.
