Serdiuk Oleksii Oleksandrovych - Head of the Research Laboratory, PhD in Sociology, Associate Professor, Police Lieutenant Colonel

The Research Laboratory on the Issues of Psychological Support of Law Enforcement Activity, as a new structural subdivision of the University, was established by the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in November, 2021, to conduct basic and applied research in the field of psychological support of law enforcement activity. Since the Research Laboratory was created through reorganization, it functionally inherited the staff, topics, and long-term research projects launched by the psychological, sociological, and personnel laboratories in previous years.

The Laboratory is headed by Serdiuk Oleksii Oleksandrovych, PhD in Sociology, Associate Professor, Police Lieutenant Colonel.

In accordance with the purpose of its creation, the main tasks of the Laboratory are:

Study, generalization and evaluation of the state of psychological support of law enforcement, police interaction with the public, improvement of the image of law enforcement agencies, including taking into account the best foreign experience.

Conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of psychological support for the activities of the MIA of Ukraine, the National Police and other central executive authorities, whose activities are directed and coordinated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Improvement of the system of psychological study, psychological training, psycho-prophylactic work of the objects of the psychological support system, support and optimization of the social and psychological climate in teams, psychological support of the police officers' service activities, including during their operational activities and investigative actions.

Improving the system of psychological support, a set of organizational, methodological, educational, psycho-prophylactic, practical, psychological measures aimed at preventing the impact of risk factors of professional activity, preserving physical and mental health, increasing psychological stability, reliability and readiness of law enforcement officers.

Scientific support for the development of partnership and interaction between the bodies and units of the MIA system of Ukraine with state authorities, local governments, public organizations and the public.

Scientific activities of the Laboratory:

The Research Laboratory carries out a number of long-term research projects, such as "Security and Trust", "Youth and Drugs", "Ukrainian Longitudinal Study", etc., which are included in regional law enforcement programs, Kharkiv Region Development Strategy for 2021-2027, and are implemented within the framework of multilateral cooperation agreements and international memorandums.
