TACTICAL AND SPECIAL UNIT "SHIELD"

The scientific club was founded in 2002. It is one of the first clubs of the university.

The main focus of the club is to train police officers to act in official and extreme situations.

During their studies, the cadets acquire and improve skills that they will use in their practical work. The training is conducted using modern methods and in a simulated environment that is as close to real life as possible.

Attention is paid to the development of both basic qualities such as attention, speed of reaction, stress resistance, and specific police skills such as attention to detail, effective communication tactics, etc.

The Scientific and Practical Club takes an active part in the life of KhNUIA. The cadets take part in demonstrations and career guidance events held at the University and beyond. The cadets are ready to demonstrate the tactics of police units of all levels and services, coordinated teamwork and a high level of interaction. The performances of the TSPU "SHCHYT" are rightly considered to be among the most beautiful and memorable for guests.

The Tactical Special Unit "SHCHYT" carries out significant patriotic and educational work among cadets. The cadets are taught resilience and endurance, the ability to perform tasks in conditions of significant physical, psychological and intellectual stress, the ability to manage personnel and make decisions in a time crunch, and teamwork and analytical skills.

The cadets of the scientific and practical club take part in demonstrations and open days of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.

Among wildlife animals, wolves demonstrate the greatest ability to survive, adaptability and fight.

The cadets of the scientific club constantly practice police tactics in in situation as close to real as possible. Most often, they use paintball and airsoft equipment and simulation tools.

At special venues, the actions of units and groups are practised, and combat skills are developed. Opponents often include representatives of other law enforcement agencies and special units who highly value and respect the TSU «SHCHYT».

The cadets practice tactics in an environment as close to combat situations as possible.

The cadets of the scientific and practical club take an active part in competitions in applied sports, such as sports and tactical paintball. They are repeated champions and prize-winners of sports paintball competitions, active participants in Kharkiv and Kharkiv Region Sports Paintball Cup.

University graduates who are members of the club represent their own regional police departments in paintball competitions; they are also members of the Ukrainian women's national paintball team and represent Ukraine on the international stage.

The TSU «SHIELD» team is a regular participant and winner of the Kharkiv and Kharkiv region paintball championships.

PRIORITY ‒ APPLIED (PRACTICAL) SCIENCE

The cadets of the scientific club adhere to high standards and demonstrate a high level of scientific activity and adhere to basic principles.

They study problematic and topical issues of law enforcement, conduct practical research using modern and diverse methods, tools and techniques of scientific activity. The cadets of the scientific club are repeated winners of all-Ukrainian scientific competitions, competitions of scientific papers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science, participants of conferences, round tables and other scientific events, welcome and respected guests at other higher education institutions.

The cadets of the scientific club are regular winners of scientific competitions in Ukraine.

The Scientific and Practical Club conducts research in a number of areas including:

  • Exercise of powers by police officers in official and extreme situations.
  • Dangers and risks, their types and threats.
  • Combat readiness and combat capability of law enforcement officers.
  • Development of new ways, techniques, methods of training and performance of service and combat tasks by the personnel of the National Police.

  • Protection of public order. Scandinavian model.
  • Police actions according to operational plans.
  • Terrain orientation, topography, operational planning.
  • Adaptation to factors of extreme situations.
  • Survival system.
  • Disguise and camouflage.
  • Actions of small police task forces.
  • Conducting fire contact by police officers.
  • Exercising command over units during operational actions.
  • Tactical acrobatics.
  • Personal safety measures of police officers. Ensuring personal safety.
  • Personal protective equipment for police officers.
  • Use of special equipment.
  • Wearing and use of equipment and gear.
  • Special units of Ukraine and the world. History, experience, tactics.

The scientific and practical club has an internal system of awards that demonstrate the level of practical skills, knowledge and abilities. Each of the awards has its own criteria for achievement and corresponds to the personal level of training of the holder:

The cadets of the club keep in touch even after graduation, continue to train, take part in field trips, share their experience with the younger generation and with each other, and help with their studies and service. Graduates of the Scientific and Practical Club have dedicated their lives to serving the people of Ukraine and have linked their fate with the special forces of Ukraine and are serving in Special Police Regiments, Rapid Action Corps and other special forces of the security and defence sector of Ukraine, a lot of them are participants of combat operations.
