Training seminars on "Fundamentals of special tactics of special police units according to the Scandinavian model of ensuring public safety and order during peaceful assemblies and other mass events" are continuing at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
The training is a part of the programme "Support for Rule of Law Reforms in Ukraine - in the Areas of Police and Public Prosecution and Good Governance" (PRAVO-Police), implemented by UNOPS with the financial support of the European Union in cooperation with the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine.
During the classes, the police officers of special units (POSU) improve their theoretical knowledge and practical skills of ensuring public safety and order according to the Scandinavian model. Police officers also get acquainted with the concept of public order in European countries, the command structure of units that ensure the protection of public safety, study the psychology of the crowd and the peculiarities of its management.
Practical classes are aimed at obtaining basic driving skills of driving special vehicles, performing complex maneuvers when building a sluice border, loading and unloading personnel, conducting close surveillance and sector patrols. Particular attention is paid to pre-medical training in providing emergency care to the wounded.
