On the occasion of Programmer's Day, the Dean of the Faculty № 4 (Cyberpolice) of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police Lieutenant Colonel Viacheslav Markov and Acting Deputy Dean for Educational and Methodological Work of the same faculty, Police Major Yurii Onyshchenko held a lecture-discussion with the 1st year cadets of the faculty № 4, who receive higher education in the specialty 125 "Cybersecurity".
Programmer's Day is a holiday celebrated on the 256th day of the year, because 256 is two to the eighth and this number can be displayed with one byte.
During the lecture-discussion, freshmen learned about the history of programming languages and computer technology, discussed the importance of using operating systems and applications in ensuring the functioning of modern computer technology. The importance of involving programmers to automate routine processes was also emphasized, especially with regard to the processing of large data sets.
Dean of the Faculty Viacheslav Markov gave an example of successfully implemented programming skills in Python by faculty cadets during the creation and maintenance of telegrams of chatbots "StopNarcotics" (https://t.me/StopDrugBots) and #ActionsAgainstViolence .me / police_helpbot). However, not all programmers-developers use their knowledge and skills to solve human problems, but on the contrary - develop malicious software: viruses, trojans, worms, encryptors and more.
Police Major Yurii Onyshchenko noted that one of the tasks of a cybersecurity specialist is to protect information systems from being harmed by malicious software, and a cyber police officer is to detect digital evidence of the perpetrator's involvement in the creation and use of such software. Therefore, cybersecurity professionals and future cyber police officers must have a good command of both modern programming languages and methods, ways and means of distributing malware.
Expanding the worldview of cadets, motivating learning, promoting self-education in order to acquire knowledge about information technology and programming skills - these are just some of the topics discussed during the event.
