Employees of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of  the Faculty №1 – Professor Yurii Orlov, Senior Lecturer Oleksandr Olishevskyi and Lecturer Nataliia Tsvirkun took part in a scientific seminar on “Current issues of criminal policy of the European Union”, organized by the Department of Criminal Law of the Faculty of Law of Kharkiv National University named after V. N. Karazin within the framework of the educational project “Jean Monnet Module 611432-EPP-1-2019-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE (EU Criminal Policy)”.

The event, which was attended by the representatives of the National Police, as well as judges, lawyers, prosecutors, discussed a number of issues and prospects for improving Ukraine's out-of-court, alternative dispute resolution institutions, including mediation and restorative justice in the context of implementing the Association Agreement. Ukraine and the EU, improving cooperation in the fight against crime, adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU norms. As a result of the scientific discussion, promising steps were identified to strengthen the preventive function of the National Police, resolve criminal conflicts in a non-repressive manner through a set of research, educational, law-making, law enforcement, information and other criminological activities of improvement educational (education-professional) training programs in the field of knowledge “Law” and “Law Enforcement”.
