A new gym has been opened at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs. The event was attended by the Rector of KhNUIA, Police General of the Third Rank Valerii Sokurenko, Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Kobko, First Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Dmytro Shvets, Rector of the University of 2012-2015 Serhii Husarov, Vice-Rectors: Police Colonel Serhii Bortnyk, Mykhailo Burdin, Leonid Mohilevskyi, Anatolii Klochko, deans of faculties, lecturers-trainers of the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training, cadets and students of the university – multiple winners of competitions in various sports.

According to the Rector of the university Valerii Sokurenko, the education of future police officers is impossible without thorough physical training. That is why a lot of attention is paid to sports and a healthy lifestyle at the university. The university is proud of every sports victory of cadets and students, because it is a great merit of the university staff, doing everything to create a worthy sports base for training and achieving high results.  Serhii Husarov, Police Colonel General stressed that he has been actively involved in sports all his life - freestyle wrestling, chess, tennis, emphasizing that the phrase "In a healthy body - a healthy spirit" - is always relevant. Only a healthy and physically developed person can realize himself in life, in professional activities and be truly happy.
  Dean of the Faculty № 3, Police Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Morhunov, who for many years headed the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training and made every effort to develop sports in higher education, thanked the university management for constant and powerful help and support for the development of sports infrastructure and athletes emphasizing that not every institution of higher education in Ukraine has such conditions for sports and physical development. Oleksandr Morhunov also acquainted the audience with the equipment of the gym, designed for training and preparation of athletes in various sports.
Cadets and university students were the first to test the new sports equipment. The training was conducted by teachers of the Department of Tactical and Special Physical Training.
