Within the framework of the charity project «BRITISH forensic equipment in practical activity and educational process» from the British forensic units through the British Embassy, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs has already received two batches of used forensic equipment, worth about 100,000 pounds.

The project was implemented with support of the Forensic Capability Network (FCN), which is part of the National Police Chiefs Council of the United Kingdom (NPCC), as well as with the personal assistance of Joan Morrissey – FCN HR Strategy Manager, and Anna Markowska – Deputy director of the Police Institute of the Eastern Region (PIER, Cambridge, United Kingdom) in cooperation with the Research Lab for psychological support of law enforcement activities (Oleksii Serdiuk) and the Research Lab for scientific support of law enforcement activities and personnel training (Tetiana Matyushkova).

In particular, the following were transferred: SLR cameras, copy stands, multi-spectral forensic lamps, electronic scales, heat sealers, laboratory utensils, kits for removing various types of traces from the crime scene, etc. Part of the equipment is aimed at strengthening the educational base of the KhNUoI, in particular, at the completion of the forensic training ground. However, the main part has already been transferred to practical units of the National Police of Ukraine and expert units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for usage in documenting and investigating crimes, in particular those which are committed by the aggressor. Rector of the university Valery Sokurenko thanked international partners for their support and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
