On July 30, Ukraine celebrates the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which was established in 2013 by the United Nations General Assembly. Representatives of the Equal Opportunities team of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs took part in an online event organized by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). 

 

The purpose of the discussion was to review the actions of the ODIHR to overcome risks in the fight against human trafficking in the context of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It was about training courses and the creation of a network of operatives who work with refugees from Ukraine.

Under the moderation of OSCE/ODIHR Anti-Trafficking Adviser Tetyana Kotlyarenko, during the panel discussion, foreign and Ukrainian participants focused on ways to ensure a victim- and victim-oriented, gender-sensitive, child-friendly approach to reducing the risks faced by Ukrainian internally displaced persons and refugees. taking into account the fact that such experience has existed in different parts of the world for quite a long time. Dmytro Lubinets, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, gave the main speech.

During the ODIHR event, a fact sheet and survey-based recommendations on the safety of refugee women fleeing Ukraine, the ODIHR Handbook and the newly published Code of Practice on the Rights of Trafficking Victims and Survivors were presented.
