Every year, Ukrainian institutions actively participate in the EU's Horizon program, which promotes Ukraine's integration into the European Research Area. In 2023, 29 higher education institutions participated in EU Horizon projects, including: Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is the only institution among the higher education institutions in the security and defense sector.

KhNUIA conducts active international cooperation with representatives of the European Research

Area, including those aimed at improving the law enforcement system of Ukraine. During 2023, the

university participated in three projects of the EU Horizon program:

– Horizon 2020 – EQUALS-EU "Europe’s Regional Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital

Age";

– Horizon 2020 – NOTIONES "iNteracting netwOrk of inTelligence and securIty practitiOners with

iNdustry and acadEmia actorS";

– Horizon Europe – RESONANT (interdisciplinary research collaboration on foreign interference,

suppression and manipulation of information). Two of these projects are scheduled for 2026.
