February 9, 2015 a joint meeting of rectors of higher educational institutions within security, defence and law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Ministry of Emergencies of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and the State Guard of Ukraine was held in Kyiv. Participants of the meeting decided to establish the Council of Rectors of security, defence and law enforcement agencies. The main areas of its work is to coordinate the activities of higher education institutions for teaching and research, and raising patriotic, moral, aesthetic and cultural education of youth. Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General of police Sergei Mykolaiovych Gusarov was elected the Chairman of the Council.
