The autumn session of English conversation clubs, organized on the initiative and facilitation of the International Cooperation Department, has begun for representatives of KhNUIA. Classes are taught by native English speakers – Suzanne BANCEL, Senior Advisor on Internationalisation at the Norwegian Police University College and Dominique GEER, Director and Teacher of the ArcoMusicAcademy (USA) Music Academy, a cellist from Hilton Head Island (South Carolina, USA). They volunteer to create an interactive and lively atmosphere for participants.

Two groups of university representatives meet online every week, receive individually tailored practice, improve their grammar, expand their vocabulary and, most importantly, increase their confidence in using English on various topics: in the professional, cultural, diplomatic and political spheres, as well as in everyday communication.

During this autumn session, classes with Dominique GEER discussed cultural values in different countries, practical aspects of relocation, and issues of pre-medical care. In Suzanne BANCEL's classes, participants discussed TED talks videos about the components of a happy life (Robert Waldinger), watched documentaries about famous personalities, music bands and historical events, pets, etc.

The speakers facilitate discussions, help participants express themselves freely, draw attention to grammar, pronunciation and intonation, and give assignments for independent work, such as writing short descriptions, composing poems and exercises to expand vocabulary. This ensures the comprehensive development of language skills.

Regular participation in conversation clubs helps to improve English language proficiency, develop communication skills and, at the same time, raises awareness of current global trends.

Confident command of English is an important prerequisite for the effective integration of KhNUIA representatives into the European educational, scientific and professional space. This makes it possible to promote Ukraine's interests in the EU and establish cooperation with international partners.

The classes are moderated by the university's International Cooperation Department. https://univd.edu.ua/uk/news/24737
