In the conditions of a full-scale war and new challenges facing law enforcement officers, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs is strengthening the training of future officers in the field of Mine Action.

"Today, mine danger is one of the most serious threats to the life and safety of citizens. Therefore, it is extremely important that police officers have not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills of action in such conditions," said Mykola BOROVYK, Head of the Department of Tactical and Special Training.

By the decision of the Academic Council of the University, the Scientific and Practical Center "Mine Action" was created, which has become a modern platform for education, research and practical training. Its main goal is the high quality training of future law enforcement officers for actions in real conditions.

Cadets master the methods of identifying explosive objects, learn how to use unmanned systems for non-technical terrain analysis, conduct technical inspection of territories in accordance with the standards of operational procedures (SOP), and also learn the procedure in case of detection or neutralization of improvised explosive devices.

"Such lessons allow us not only to gain important knowledge, but also to feel responsible for our own and citizens’ safety. We understand that these skills can save lives – both ours and civilians'," said cadet Artur VISHCHAK.

The university will continue to develop the practical component of training future police officers, forming a generation of specialists who are able to act professionally, confidently and decisively even in the most dangerous conditions. https://univd.edu.ua/uk/news/25637
