Professor of the Department of Legal Disciplines of Sumy Branch of KhNUIA Nataliia Horobets together with the head of Zarichne District Court of Sumy Hanna Sheliekhova conducted an online binary lesson for second-year students on the subject "Civil Law" on "Compensation for non-pecuniary damage."

Hanna Sheliekhova said that the law does not establish clear methods for calculating the amount of non-pecuniary damage, which forces the court to take into account the requirements of reasonableness and fairness in determining its amount. It should be noted that non-pecuniary damage is compensated regardless of the property damage to be compensated and is not related to the amount of such compensation.

The speaker emphasized that the party claiming compensation for non-pecuniary damage is not released from the obligation to prove its existence by providing proper, admissible and reliable evidence of this fact.

Hanna Sheliekhova also gave interesting examples of civil cases for compensation for non-pecuniary damage, analyzing in more detail the students why this amount was satisfied.
