Olena Shakhova, Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology and Psychology, Candidate of Biological Sciences, conducted another online seminar on the subject "Evolution, Anatomy and Physiology of the Central Nervous System" on the topic "Structure and functions of the brain" for first-year psychologists.
Students got acquainted with the features of the structure and functions of the brain stem and conducted laboratory work to study the unconditional reflexes of the medulla oblongata. Particular attention was paid to the study of the Danini-Ashner eye-heart reflex, which allows a psychologist to determine whether a person is in a state of adaptation or distress, as well as to help a person overcome panic attacks accompanied by tachycardia.
