Cadets of the final year of the Faculty No 1 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs continue to study the discipline "Workshop with the use of technical and forensic instrument of evidence". This time the field binary classes on the topic "Forensic explosives" were held for the study groups. The classes were held by Tetiana Matiushkova, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminalistics and Forensic Science of the Faculty No 1, Police Lieutenant Colonel, Maksym Kucha, Head of the Department of Explosive and Fire Engineering Research of Kharkiv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Police Lieutenant Colonel, and Bohdan Pavlov, Senior Expert of the same Department.

The cadets got acquainted with the samples of investigated and neutralized explosive devices, their parts, pieces and traces of application, models of improvised explosive devices and other objects. During the lesson, attention was paid to the technical means used to search and neutralize explosive devices. The issues of the peculiarities of the scene inspection, that carried out in the case of detection or use of explosive devices and substances, algorithm of interaction of the investigator with the explosive technician, forensic scientist and cynologist when inspecting the scene, features of detection, fixation, withdrawal, packing and transportation of explosives were considered in detail. Answering the questions, the cadets demonstrated their knowledge of regulatory documents on the handling of explosives in bodies and departments of the National Police of Ukraine and subdivisions of the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

The cadets also received consultations from explosives experts on further interaction between the investigator and experts of Scientific Research Forensic Center when appointing and conducting an explosion of technical and other examinations. Тherefore, the issues of types of forensic examinations on explosives, objects of its research, sequence of appointments and resolved issues were revealed in detail.
