A regular meeting of the student scientific club on “The work of a psychologist in the "green room"” took place at the Department of Sociology and Psychology of the Faculty 6 of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs.
The Green Room is a specially organized system of activities aimed at ensuring legality and humanity in working with children who have suffered from violence (including sexual violence), are witnesses of violence, or are themselves involved in illegal actions.
Specialists-psychologists of the "green room" - the head of the scientific club, associate professor of the sociology and psychology department Olena Shakhova, and associate professor of the department Kateryna Mannapova acquainted future psychologists with the peculiarities of working with such children. They stressed that the main purpose of working in the "green room" is to prevent re-traumatization of the child's psyche during investigative and procedural actions. For this purpose, appropriate technical equipment is used, which allows recording the interrogation correctly and then use to conduct an investigation without re-interrogation, special techniques are used to create a psychologically comfortable atmosphere for the interviewed child.
Students were also acquainted with a psychodiagnostic set of methods for assessing the consequences of violence in children.
