May 8 is the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in Ukraine. Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Police General of the 3-rd rank Valerii Sokurenko, Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Serhii Bortnyk, Ex-Vice Rector of the University and now People's Deputy of Ukraine Oleksandr Bakumov and others took part in the ceremonial events held at the Memorial of Glory. Together with representatives of state and local self-government bodies and the public, the participants of the event laid flowers at the foot of the Motherland Monument and honored the dead with a minute of silence.

We bow our heads before those who defended our native land during the Second World War and those who today defend the eastern borders of Ukraine.
