Head of the Research Laboratory, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor, Police Lieutenant Colonel Serdiuk Oleksii Oleksandrovych
The Research Laboratory of Social and Psychological Support, Assistance and Rehabilitation of MIA Employees of the Educational and Research Institute No. 3 (Training of specialists for preventive activity units of the National Police of Ukraine) of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs was established by reorganizing the Research Laboratory on the Issues of Psychological Support of Law Enforcement Activity to conduct basic and applied research in the field of social and psychological support, support and rehabilitation of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Research Laboratory functionally inherited the staff, topics and long-term research projects launched by the psychological, sociological and personnel laboratories in previous years.
The Laboratory is headed by Oleksii Serdiuk, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor, Police Lieutenant Colonel.
In accordance with the purpose of its creation, the main tasks of the laboratory are:
Conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of social and psychological support, support and rehabilitation of employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the National Police and other central executive authorities, whose activities are directed and coordinated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Improvement of a set of organizational, methodological, educational, psycho-prophylactic and rehabilitation measures aimed at preventing exposure to risky factors of professional activity, preserving physical and mental health, increasing psychological stability, reliability and readiness of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the context of repulsing armed aggression by the Russian Federation.
Improvement of the system of psychological support, psychological training, psychoprophylactic work, rehabilitation measures, psychological support and optimization of the social and psychological climate in teams, psychological support of police officers' service activities, including during their operational activities and investigative actions, as well as repulsion of armed aggression by the Russian Federation.
Study, generalization and evaluation of the state of social and psychological support and maintenance of law enforcement activities, interaction of law enforcement agencies with the public, improvement of their image, including taking into account the best foreign experience.
Scientific support for the development of partnership and interaction between the bodies and units of the MIA system of Ukraine with state authorities, local governments, public organizations and the public. Integration into the European and global scientific space, etc.
Scientific activity of the Laboratory:
The Research Laboratory carries out a number of long-term research projects, such as “Security and Trust”, “Youth and Drugs”, “Ukrainian Longitudinal Study”, etc., which are included in regional law enforcement programs, Kharkiv Region Development Strategy for 2021-2027, and are implemented within the framework of multilateral cooperation agreements and international memorandums.National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe Program.
Oleksii Serdiuk, Head of the Laboratory, is an official of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs performing the tasks and functions of the National Contact Point of the Horizon Europe Program in the area of Civilian Security for Society. The tasks and functions of the NCP include increasing the participation of both scientific and practical units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and other civilian security sector institutions in the Horizon Europe program, which will allow to influence the formation of practical recommendations from the EU, which are developed within similar competitive programs and then sent in the format of recommendations for their implementation in Ukraine. This allows the interests and experience of the civilian security sector of Ukraine to be reflected in the content of such recommendations at the stage of their development, which strengthens our ability to resist the aggressor, both under martial law and after our victory.
