Resolution 1325 emphasizes the important role of women in the prevention and settlement of conflicts and in building peace, and also calls on member states to ensure a more active participation of women at all levels of decision-making in national, regional and international institutions, in mechanisms for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts. The resolution became an institutional framework for the integration of women into the security sector.
