The Constitution of Ukraine is not just a legal document adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on the night of June 28, 1996, after long and exhausting political debates. It is an act of popular sovereignty, which enshrines not only the structure of state power, but also the fundamental values around which a democratic society is built.

The Basic Law of the state enshrines the rights and freedoms of citizens, defines the principles of democracy, the rule of law and the independence of Ukraine.
